Panhandle Elementary Summer Updates!

Happy summer, Panhandle! We have finally made it to sweet summertime. I love driving around and seeing our students riding bikes, leaving the library, playing together and having a well-deserved vacation! I feel so blessed, now- more than ever, to live in our wonderful community.

First, I would like to say ‘thank you’ to our Panhandle Elementary families who ‘trekked’ through Panhandle Learning Camp (distance learning) during the COVID-19 pandemic this spring. It was unprecedented for us all, and I know was an added stress to many. I also want to give a word of ‘thanks’ to our PES staff. They were simply amazing during this time of emergency. Nevertheless, we all persevered and ended the year as best as we possibly could, given the circumstances. As they say, it absolutely takes the entire “village.”

After inquiring about having a summer school “camp,” we regret to inform our families that there are still too many social distancing guidelines, class size caps, and hygienic protocols to enforce during the summer school months. Simply stated, we just don’t have the available staff or space to accommodate the current stipulations set forth by the Texas government and TEA for summer school opportunities. However, we are excited and are already planning for our new year in August! It will be our best year, yet!

Tentative registration dates will be Tuesday, August 4, 2020 for incoming Pre-K students (4 year olds) and Wednesday, August 5, 2020 for incoming Kindergarten-5th Graders. Stay tuned for more detailed information later this summer (Subject to change.)

We are looking forward to being with your superstar students again! Our theme for the 2020-2021 school year will be “The Greatest School on Earth.” We hope it’s an amazing way to introduce and incorporate our tradition of excellence and academic successes…not to mention, foster a little fun and continuity in our little Panthers and Ettes once again.

The foundation of PES is to be a ‘family,’ focused on teamwork and reaching goals, and we look so forward to a fresh start. I am so honored to be a part of your child’s educational journey, and their futures are incredibly bright!

Sincerely Yours,

Allison Mitchell
